Free Fat - for bird feeders
We have been looked after by the Southbridge Butcher who has supplied us with a free weekly supply of suet.
This will help us feed the birds all winter. All we need now is peanut butter, honey, bread, dried fruit, nuts and bird seed.
Make sure you pop in to visit the butcher sometime and say thanks!

Reading for Fluency
We have been using Photo-Babble to practice reading clearly and fluently. It should sound smooth like talking.
Jeremy's Home Learning
I made a re-cycled bridge out of old newspapers that we did not need. Things didn't work out so I had to go back and make changes. Duck tape really helps make things stay still. By Jeremy

My own music - senior choices
Sophie has been creating her own music during senior choices on the iPad. Have a listen and give her a comment.
The challenge was to use Garageband's Sampler 'instrument' to record some sounds, trim and edit these, play them on the iPad keyboard, and then record and layer them together to create a brief sound pattern with some beat. It was a lot of fun! The first piece was only allowed to be 'instruments' from the Sampler. The next piece could include other instruments. Students were only given around 10 minutes to put these together - so Sophie has done a great job.

Quadblogging Challenge
Time to hit Room 3 at Sacred Heart School with all our effective comments.
They don't have many posts on their blog so go searching through the tabs at the top to find things to comment on. You could ask them questions or teach them some Maaori words on their Maaori Tab.

I Love Learning - Sophie #2
Sophie learned how to use a brand new publishing programme on her parent's computer - without any help from them. She thought her last poster didn't show enough learning so she tried again.
That is being both adventurous and adaptable - what a brilliant A+ Springston Student!

I Love Learning - Reeve
I love the collage effect you have gained by pasting all your images of learning Reeve. It is obvious that learning happens anywhere and at anytime for you.
I Love Learning - George
I really love the way George has added a 3D element to his poster. He has even written a poem on the writing scroll!

Carol - our ICT expert
Isabella wanted to tell you about Carol our ICT expert. She comes into school for two days a week to work on things like robotics, animation and using iPads effectively. She also works for YooBee/NATCOLL in schools around Christchurch. We have been very lucky to get training with her this term.
Snow Challenge - Lachie

Snow Fun - Isabella
Hi Allana,
This is a picture of my tree. It has snow on its branches.
These are some poems that I wrote even before we looked at the website and
saw your challenges. Mum was out this morning so I wrote her some poems.
Isabella
I love snow
Yum yum yum
I love snow
In my tum
Snow is white
Snow is soft
Snow makes you sick and cold
COLOURS
I love colours
Pink, blue, green
Indigo too
I love colours
Colours are bright
MY HAPPY PLACE
My happy place is under the sea
My happy place is up a tree
My happy place is not my knee
MY PET
I have a pet
It is a pig
But he gets the TV
I wish I got a puppy or lamb
Not this greedy pig

Snow Fun - Phelix
Hi Mrs Taylor,
Here is a picture if me eating my triple scoop snow cone! It is really yummy. We played the dice game as well and had lots of fun.
Cheers,
Phelix
Sorry Phelix - I have tried all my tricks and it keeps flipping over. Are you sure you weren't lying down in the snow while eating your snow cone?
Snow Challenges
Hi team, I hope you are all wrapped up and warm at home like me. I have a couple of challenges for you so we can prove that learning can happen anywhere! Are you up for the challenge?
1. Try that fun dice game we learned yesterday. Throw 2-4 dice and see who can get closest to the decided target using any operation like addition, subtraction or multiplication. E-mail me your target and how you got there if you want it to go on the blog - how about a photo of you doing it?
2. Write a poem about your day at home, the snow or just write for fun. I know you all have lots of great ideas just bursting to get out. Make sure you e-mail it to me so I can put it on the blog for you. Is there a picture or photo to go with the writing?
3. Take some photos of the snow around you house or what you are doing in the snow. I have put up a photo of the snow at my house last year because there is not much here in Southbridge - yet!
I wonder how many posts and photos we can get up onto the blog today when we are not even at school! The challenge is on for the E-Team - I know you can do it!

Explain my maths
Lachie has explained the strategy he used for multiplying by 10 in Explain Everything.
Home Learning - Phelix the hero!
Hi Mrs Taylor. This is me at my swimming lessons. We were learning about boats and life jackets and what to do in an emergency out in the water. I was the captain of the crew in the boat. I had to pull 9 people into the boat. I used their arm holes of the life jacket to pull them in. I had great fun.
