Spot - out for the weekend

Spot had to get up really early to begin his trip to Tekapo.

He wasn't allowed in the pools because he forgot his togs but did make friends with some ducks.  When we got home, he tried to eat the cake that we found waiting as a surprise!

We wrote instructions, did observational drawings, planned mosaics and made them.  We also practised our basic facts on the computer and read.

Is it a plant?

We have been looking at classifying things into plant and not plant.  There were lots of things we were unsure of so we had to do some research.

We also tried to define the characteristics that make things a plant.  We might need to adjust this but here are our first ideas.

Before we started, we all thought about our 'Wonderings'.  What did we want to know about plants and growing our food?  Here are a few ideas.

Cheeky Bird

Check out Tate's Grannie's bird. This is what he eats: He doesn't seed, he has fruit veges and has a special wet mix and you need to change his cage around every week.  Rio is a lorikeete from Aussie.

Our Avatars

We used instructions to make our avatars.  We decided that if the instructions have all the success criteria then they are easier to follow.  We all did really well following the instructions.

Pizza Fractions

Charlie clearly explains how to make a whole pizza using quarters and halves.  I love the way it is so clear and easy to hear.

Following Instructions - build an avatar

During writing time, we will be testing these instructions to make our own Avatar.  We will be looking for the success criteria for instructions and checking that they are clear and easy to follow.  I wonder which avatar you will choose to create?

Click on the image for a closer view.

Sometimes we choose to put an avatar up on the Internet rather than a photo of ourselves.  This might be a good option if you want to protect your identity.
