Book sell - Minecraft Handbook

I have a book I would like to recommend.  I saw it in the shop today and knew I had to buy it for our  class library because LOTS of you LOVE Minecraft!

It is an informational handbook on all the moves and tips a player needs to know.  There are lots of illustrations and often there are steps that show you what to do.

I know this book will be very popular so we might have to set up a lottery draw to see who takes it home first.

Who are Waka Endeavour?

We are looking at who we are.  What does our name really mean?

First we had to find out what endeavour meant.  This is what we came up with.  This means we have to have a goal and be working towards it.

To be 'In the Waka' we all need to be a team.  We work towards the same goal and all paddle in the same direction.  If someone falls out the waka, we need to stop and help them back in again.  We will reach our goal more quickly in the Waka than if we were on our own.

The problem is, a waka needs some paddles.  We are still thinking about the key things we believe in.  They will become our guidelines - not rules but things we follow.  We are beginning to think that we are all teachers and learners in out class so AKO could be one.  Give 100% effort might be another.  Showing respect to people and things is really important in Waka Endeavour.

Why don't your write a comment to share what you believe would make an effective learning team?

Book Sell - Dragonbreath

I visited Carolyn today and her son Graeson had a book he wanted to recommend to you.  It is called Dragonbreath and is written by Ursula Vernon.

Graeson loves this book because it is very funny.  It has short chapters and is sprinkled with pictures.  It is all about the challenges make-believe creatures get up to in school - like writing a report about the Sea.  The only trouble, the DRAGON in the story decides to do 'real practical' research.

It is full of cartoon sharks, rays and other sea creatures.  Think more along the line of Sponge Bob than the real thing.  It is a short book but currently has nine books in the series.

Graeson would recommend this book to people who like a laugh and things that are a bit silly.  They need to like cartoon pictures too.

Home Learning

Here are the home learning sheets sent home yesterday.

I will attempt to put them up on the blog so you can always check and print another copy off.  Copies will also be put on our team noticeboard outside the classroom.  Please click on the images for a larger view.

We will be having a discussion about Waitangi Day on Monday and sharing our shields on Tuesday so please make sure they are returned to school for those days.

The home learning book should always be in your book bag and come to school every day.  We will be adding your Wild Reader Notebook this week.  This is where you record the books you read and should also always be in your book bag.

Visit the Secret Garden

Check out some of our class visiting the Secret Garden today at lunch time.  As you can see, the garden is looking amazing.  We couldn't count all the monarch caterpillars on the plants - there were too many.

Make sure you pop down to check it all out.  I wonder who thinks they can count all those stripy wriggly caterpillars?

Visit the ECO Team Website.

When's your birthday?

Here we are ordering ourselves according to our birthday.  It was really hard to do without talking.  Our first try was nearly two minutes but we got the time down to 15 seconds.  It is amazing what we can do as a team!

Kaylee and Mya did a great job of being leaders and helping us get organised on this task.

Spot @ home with Libby

Spot had an exciting evening with Libby.  Check out the home learning she brought in to share.

Why don't your write Libby a comment to find out the name of her goat?
Can you tell me why we blocked out Libby's last name?
