Ryan's Home Learning

My dad and I made a bunny coop for my bunny. It needed a better house with a warm safe place to sleep.

At the start of making the bunny coop my Dad amd I made a little hut that looked funny.
I finally made the bunny coop for my bunny,  that has been waiting for about five weeks. It took two days to make the hut. In the end the hut looked cool. I took a long time to drill in the holes and put screws in them.

I feel happy because my bunny has loved the bunny coop.

Science Homeplay Challenge

After a serious discussion about home learning being boring - Waka Endeavour students offered me a solution.  We want to do science experiments!  So here they are!

I have selected eight 'easy to do at home' experiments that you could try together.  If you have other ones you'd like to try, then please go for it but provide a copy of the experiment and record your observations on the sheet provided.

We would love the experiments to be shared on Mondays and hope that one could be completed most weeks.

This experiment option sheet, along with their first choice of experiment and recording sheet will be coming home today.  Have fun being scientists together.

Speck goes sailing with Robbie

Speck had an adventure last night! He went sailing! At the weekend I went to the ICONZ Raft Race. I made a boat out of flax because we had mini raft races down the river. We also had big rafts with four of us on board and it was really fun.

Speck saw my little raft and he said 'Can we go sailing?' I said 'What on?' Speck said 'That little raft looks just the right size for me!'
So I said 'Mum Speck wants to go sailing!' Mum said 'I know just the place!'

Here are the photos of Speck sailing on the raft in the sun. He went out really deep and I thought I couldn't get him back. Then I had a great idea. I yelled out 'Lets get the flippers from the car'. We made waves with the flippers at the edge to push the little raft to the other side of the pond and I ran round and rescued Speck and his little raft.

Home Learning for the rest of term!

Home Learning
There have been lots of parents asking about home learning in our class.  Here is a reminder so you know what is expected every week.

These things feed into our class programme.  Writing seeds form the basis of any free writing done by your child and the writing that comes to school on Monday is edited with a buddy and continues along the writing process until it is published.  These things are required EVERY WEEK.

However - there are sometimes fun optional Home Play Challenges set.  Here is our next one…..
You have heaps of time to plan and experiment for the end of term and Easter.

How do you eat your creme egg?

The ideas on this movie clip were pretty lame so try some creative options of your own:
Frozen, melted on ice-cream, smashed?  In the bath, in a onesie or up a tree?  How could you tell the story of smashing your egg, how it got up the tree…?

Challenge:
Create a short movie of how you eat your creme egg.  It should not be longer than about one minute and hopefully have a commentary and or music.  Good luck my Secret Creme Egg Eaters!

We will share these movies in the last week of school so they are due on in Friday 11th April at 3pm.

Kiwi @ Aria's

Monday, 24 February 2014

Kiwi @ Gemma's House

Kiwi at Gemma’s house.

First he played the piano by himself and with Tigey.

Second he rode on my pony The Duke Of Earl in the stirrup and in the monkey strap. He helped me hold the hose to fill Earl's water trough. He had lots of fun. Except in the evening where Tigey and Kiwi were fighting when I left them downstairs so I brought them upstairs to keep them from fighting but I couldn't stop them.  Now they have finally stopped fighting! I think they were trying to see who is boss. (I think Kiwi is).

We all read a book before bed. Tigey and Kiwi read a bit of Eeyore and the Balloon Tree.  I read some of Sleepover Stakeout.

Speck @ Sarah's House

Speck dropped from the top of the swing into the play-trough. It made a big splash. Speck got soaking wet. Then Speck sunbathed on a towel in the trailer.

Next he went into the house. We made him a crown. It had a blue gem in the middle of the crown and two tiny gems on the side.

Picture perfect!

We went into the paddock. Blossom our lamb and George our goat were grazing. Speck started riding Blossom and George. George did a trick to show off to Speck but Speck ignored him and got on with riding the animals to show off his moves for the camera.
