Athletics on Tuesday - yippee!

Here is the notice that went home on Friday - just in case it got lost in the bottom of the bag or worse

School Athletics Sports
Senior and Middle Teams
Tuesday 21 October pp Wednesday 22 October

Next Tuesday is athletics day for the senior and middle team. This year we are going to be traveling to Brookside Park (between Brookside and Lowes Roads, Rolleston) and using the Selwyn Athletic Club facilities and equipment.

The cost of the bus will be $7 and needs to be paid to the school office in a named envelope.
Students will need to be at school at 8:45 a.m. to catch the bus and we will be returning before 3 p.m.

Children need to wear shorts and t-shirt (house colours would be great) plus suitable footwear for sports activities. They will also need their sunhat, sun block and a jacket if weather is cooler. They will need food for the day and also a drink bottle.

Parents are most welcome to join us for the day. The events will start at Brookside at approx. 9:15 a.m. and continue throughout the day. We would love some help so if there are any parents who would like to help with measuring or scoring at an event please let Wendy know.

Many thanks

Top Team - Co-operating with Burnham School

The other week - lots of the Middle and Senior Learning Team went to Burnham School to participate in the annual Top Team competition.  This year was drizzly and wet but it didn't stop us giving our best.  Sometimes this included getting covered in buckets of water.

This year we also mixed up schools.  That was great because we had to work with kids we didn't know and make sure everyone felt part of the team.

If you haven't been to Top Team yet, you will love it next year.  Remember to wear your old clothes and have heaps of fun.

Playing Golf

After weeks of learning how to play golf at school, this week we got to go to the golf course.  It was much harder to drive the ball do far down the green and when the ground tilted away from the hole.

We looked carefully at the problem and tried not to moan when Allana took us to the wrong hole so we had to walk for ages!  We were great at helping each other remember the steps to take.
  1. Feet together
  2. Little step
  3. Big step
  4. Tilt
  5. Pop
  6. Swing (tick tock like a clock)

Check us out learning tennis

We had lots of sessions learning tennis.  We got pretty good at managing the raquet and moving to the ball.  We were also working very hard on listening carefully to the instructions.

Springston School Fun Run

On Friday the Seniors and Middle School went down to the Domain to participate in our annual Fun Run (The Juniors joined us later).  It had been raining all week so it was a bit muddy, which resulted in Zac loosing his shoe in pony poo! (not really - it just fell off)
Check out the cool photos of the race and the fun activities of the day.

Home Learning - Phelix the hero!

Hi Mrs Taylor. This is me at my swimming lessons. We were learning about boats and life jackets and what to do in an emergency out in the water. I was the captain of the crew in the boat. I had to pull 9 people into the boat. I used their arm holes of the life jacket to pull them in. I had great fun.
