How to write instructions

Take a look at our success criteria.  Which one will you choose to focus on in your writing?

Draw the mystery shape!

Follow the instructions to draw the mystery shape
  1. Draw a lower case T on your paper.
  2. Draw a circle in the middle T.
  3. Draw two smallish circles, one on the bottom of the T and one on the top.
  4. Draw a squiggly line on the top right hand side going up from the T.
  5. Draw four dots on the bottom left hand side going down from the T.
  6. Draw one upside down triangle on the right hand side touching the T.
  7. Draw a right-side up triangle on the left hand side touching the T.
I hope you thought our instructions are easy to follow!

Our Avatars

We used instructions to make our avatars.  We decided that if the instructions have all the success criteria then they are easier to follow.  We all did really well following the instructions.

Following Instructions - build an avatar

During writing time, we will be testing these instructions to make our own Avatar.  We will be looking for the success criteria for instructions and checking that they are clear and easy to follow.  I wonder which avatar you will choose to create?

Sometimes we choose to put an avatar up on the Internet rather than a photo of ourselves.  This might be a good option if you want to protect your identity.
