Time Lapse animation

This is our very first attempt with using I Can Animate to create an impression of a Time Lapse.  We need this tool to show our seeds germinating as part of our inquiry into 'Growing our own Food'.

KidsAKO: Educamp

What is a kidsAKO?  What is an educamp?  We have talked about Kowhai Conversation visiting for the day and the kids running the workshops!
What would we want to learn about?
What could we teach other kids?
What are we experts at?

Take a look at this blog where children in the USA ran their own Educamp.

Make comments below about what you want to learn and what you could teach.  We might even be able to get Carol and Zanada to run a workshop too!

Home Learning Grid Weeks 1-2

Hi team - check out the great ideas for home learning in the first couple of weeks.

Remember that our focus this Term is to really concentrate on quality home learning and everyone handing their books in.  That might just mean recording the things you already do and bringing your book in on time.  For other it might mean getting up away from the TV and doing some cool things with your time.

Every homelearning book in on time with boxes completed will earn the class one point towards the Pyramid of Success!

Please click on the image for a closer look.  Extra copies of the Home Learnig Grid are in the cloakbay.

Steps for success:
Get the sheet glued in ASAP
Make a plan - what days are busy?  What days can you fit some tasks in?
Do a little bit often.
Not on the calendar when it is due in.
Be ORGANISED.

Remember - this is your challenge.  You have not been successful if Mum or Dad have to keep nagging you to do it!  DUE:  Friday 9th August

Growing our own food!

How exciting - Term 3 is just about to kick off!

We are investigating how to grow our own food.  Leave some comments about what you want to learn about how plants grow, fruit, vegetables etc.

Take a look at this cool time-lapse video of a seed germinating.

Term 3 is all about:
  • Science experiments (lots and lots)
  • Disecting plants
  • Making seeds fly!
  • Writing instructions
  • Following instructions
  • Time lapse video
  • Science Fair in Week 9 (you will all have an exhibit)
  • QR Codes for mihis
  • Lots of Te Reo learning (Time, numbers, Where/what is this?)
  • KidsAKO - workshops run by us and Weedsons School (Week 6)
  • Making crazy vege face collages
  • Having a class allotment
  • Daily 5
  • Book Week - dress ups on Friday Week 4 (yippee)
  • Making an avatar
  • Staying safe on the Internet
Yippee - I am so excited about all the great learning we will do together this term.  See you all tomorrow!

Hot wheels car drive.

This is a car called jet driving beside the seaside and heading on to a dirt road to his house.
I used light green and dark green for the grass and light blue and dark blue for the sea.
